This coconut butter bark is so delish! My first batch was white without cocoa but I just had to have a mock chocolate bar, and this kills the chocolate cravings without dairy and no sugar!! Instead of hazelnuts and sunflower seeds, this time I used pecans.
Sonia's Choco-nutty Coconut Bark: 1.5 cups of homemade coconut butter (or store bought); 2 tbs organic unrefined coconut oil; 1 cup pecans; 1/8 to 1/4 tsp liquid stevia/hazelnut flavor; 1 tbs organic cocoa powder; 2 tbs xylitol; 1/4 cup lecithin granules*, (1/4 tsp sea salt. Melt the coconut butter and coconut oil together in a double boiler, then add all the other ingredients and mix together. Scoop out all that gooey heaven into a 9x13 shallow baking pan lined with parchment paper or wax paper, flatten and smooth out the batter until it covers the bottom evenly with another sheet of wax paper. Place in freezer for about an hour. Take out and break pieces apart. Eat and Enjoy! *optional ingredient. For best results keep the bark refrigerated. It should last for weeks/months in the freezer. This is a variant of the last one I posted. Please share!

1 spiralized organic green (or yellow) zucchini; 1 clove of organic garlic; 4 slices of organic tomato (or several sliced grape or cherry tomatoes); 1-2 tbs roasted/salted sunflower seeds; 2 tbs organic first cold pressed extra virgin olive oil; 1/4 tsp celtic sea salt. (the ingredients can be modified and mixed up to your taste) I have also varied the recipe with pumpkin seeds and olives.

This stuff is seriously addicting and amazingly healthy to eat. Candida friendly and Paleo. You must use a very high speed mixer. Approx 7 cups or 10 oz of coconut flakes (organic preferably), 2-4 tbs of organic cold pressed unrefined coconut oil. Blend/mix until a paste forms, start out with 2 tbs of oil, then add additional oil to get the desired consistency. Spoon out into a jar with a tight lid. Store in cubbard for 3-4 months (I promise it wont last that long because you will eat it all probably within two weeks or less). wink emoticon You can use this instead of peanut butter or instead of other nut butters, and you will save tons of money making your own. By making homemade coconut butter, you can change the flavors according to your desires! Say...Chocolate! Honey! Hazelnut! Almond! Vanilla! You could even add a bit of xylitol to make it a sweet treat!

Garlic/Rosemary Focaccia Bread: Grain (gluten) free, dairy free, sugar free. Paleo. This is a life saver... It's so much better than "regular" bread, and only took about 30min to make. Hello sandwiches! I'm back! Anyone who has ever been on a candida cleanse or a gluten free diet will absolutely fall head over heals for this bread.

2 tbs of olive oil, 3-4 garlic cloves, 4 eggs, 1/3 cup coconut/hemp milk (or nondairy milk), 2 tbs of chia seeds, 1/3 cup coconut flour, 2/3 cup ground flax seed, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda, fresh rosemary sprinkles about 1/2-1 tsp, cracked pepper. preheat oven to 350, brush olive oil on baking sheet/parchment paper, (i forgot the parchment paper above and it came out fine) mix/blend all the ingredients in high speed mixer until pasty, (some garlic may not fully mix so you can slice those smaller before hand if you don't like chunks of garlic) spread dough in pan and flatten with parchment paper, and brush with remaining olive oil, cook for 20 min or until the sides start to slightly brown, let cool and serve A Holistic Way© by Sonia Platz, Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Holistic Health Practitionerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02757198529023947437noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4934284800976132633.post-28223570901618300942015-01-16T14:18:00.002-08:002015-01-16T14:18:29.165-08:00The Maternity Leave that Never EndedHello folks. Somehow after having my son I was never able to get back into the swing of regular blogging or taking on new clients. I have successfully assumed the position of fulltime SAHM until further notice. The good news is I have become an expert in the field of baby & toddler nutrition and herbs! So all those holistic moms need to give me a shout when you have a question.
On the upside, I am still on staff at Living Well Dallas, but am only there by appointment on the rare occasion.
Under A Holistic Way I may consult with clients via phone (by appointment only). You may contact me on facebook to schedule an appointment.
I maintain my facebook page and post things of interest and answer your messages there. As of today my website has been officially "parked," so the only online presence I have is via blogger and facebook. I still write the occasional article on the Examiner site: http://www.examiner.com/alternative-medicine-in-dallas/sonia-platz. I hope you will find me and let me know if I can help you in your journey to claim a healthier you through better nutrition and herbs.
Happy New Year to all!
Very sincerely, Sonia Platz

My apologies for abandoning you. Since becoming a Mom, I have postponed work, blogging, and well, everything I used to do and be. I knew life would be different, I just didn't realize that so much of what I used to consume myself with would virtually disappear into the backseat of a vehicle undriven. Instead of posting blogs (since it takes time to sit here and think and write stuff), I have resorted to facebook to post quick links and tips on holistic health and wellness. If you have not already, and you want to keep up with me, like my facebook page.
At some point in the not too far away future I do intend to resurface from my blogging hiatus to continuing blessing you with my ideas and nutrition knowledge and herbal know-how. In the meantime...like me on facebook. Thanks everyone. Cheers to your health!A Holistic Way© by Sonia Platz, Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Holistic Health Practitionerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02757198529023947437noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4934284800976132633.post-25673127272446229342012-04-06T09:26:00.000-07:002012-04-06T09:26:26.180-07:00Diabetes -David Christopher MH (from the School of Natural Healing)Information from the great master herbalist, David Christopher. Mentor and Teacher.

Diabetes
-David Christopher MH

There are two major classifications for diabetes: Type I, juvenile onset diabetes or IDDM (Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus); and Type II, adult onset diabetes or NIDDM (Non- Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus). These classifications describe one as being dependent on insulin while the other is not. This confuses people when they have to take insulin after being diagnosed with adult onset diabetes or Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes. When these classifications were created there was no confusion, but the medical therapies that are used today force type II diabetics into insulin dependency.

Type I diabetes is an auto immune disease. The beta cells in the pancreas are targeted by the immune system, which systematically targets and destroys all of these insulin producing cells. Note that this is not a malfunctioning immune system. It does not randomly destroy all cells but specifically targets only the beta cells (which produce insulin). The disease results in a dependency of administered insulin, hence the classification, Insulin Dependent Diabetes. The principle therapies are to calm the immune system so it doesn't attack its' own cells, and feed the body what it needs to replace these beta cells. Dr. Christopher's Immune Calm Formula helps the body to not attack its' own cells, and the Dr. Christopher's Pancreas Formula along with the Dr. Christopher's Complete Tissue and Bone Formula give the body what it needs to replace the insulin producing cells. Also eating copious amounts of green beans will give the body the needed vanadium mineral along with other minerals and vitamins necessary for the manufacturing of insulin. Staying away from the consumption of sugary foods, white flour products and dairy is essential to the program.

Type II (NIIDDM) or adult onset diabetes is an entirely different disease than Type I and is basically an environmental condition. It develops entirely because of poor environmental choices or more plainly stated, eating the wrong foods. The solution then is simple. Grow up and eat like an adult. Reject the candies, cakes, cookies, breads, crackers, cold cereals, milk, ice cream, soda pop, etc. In fact reject all manufactured foods. Do not buy foods in cans or packages, but choose to purchase all your food from the produce section of the grocery store. Even better would be to purchase organic produce. Half of this produce should be eaten raw. Never eat processed fruit; it should always be eaten raw. If you follow these procedures, which have been taught by many natural healers for centuries, you will be over your Type II diabetes within 6 months. The healing can be quickened if you include Dr. Christopher's 4 basic cleansing formulas (Lower Bowel, Kidney, Liver and Gallbladder, and Bloodstream), as well as his Vitalerbs, Pancreas Formula, and Adrenal Formula.

If this isn't enough information and you need a medical witness may I suggest the excellent work "Eat To Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, M.D. In this book Dr. Fuhrman shows how all diabetics who follow the program can go off insulin and live normal lives.

Type I Diabetes is manageable and Type II Diabetes is easy to cure if you grow up and eat like an adult.
The diseases the immunizations are supposed to target are virtually non-existent today mostly due to improved hygiene and living conditions-especially in the USA. It makes no sense to vaccinate against diseases that are no longer a threat or are virtually non-existent today. There seems to be no difference in active cases of these diseases - even in countries where no vaccinations are given. The injection of foreign proteins into the body is risky regardless, especially since it is not known what the long-term hazards or consequences of these injections may be (not to mention the side effects caused by the additives in these vaccinations such as aluminum). Every vaccine is associated with risks and contraindications - these risks outweigh the risk of getting the disease. It is a suspicion that vaccinations have or are causing autoimmune diseases such as cancer, leukemia, rheumatoid arthritis, MS, Lou Gehrig's, lupus erythematosus and Guillian Barre syndrome. The vaccines themselves actually cause the disease they are suppose to prevent. Since the immunizations are injections of the disease, the best way to avoid the diseases is to not be vaccinated!
For example, you might need help combating allergies; diabetes, obesity or weight issues, constipation, depression, acne, exhaustion, pain, headaches, sleeping disorders, to name a few.
